The Racial and Ethnic Disparities (RED) Committee, through the Collaboration Council, is pleased to share this invitation-only opportunity to attend the following training sessions.

The RED Committee is a county-funded program tasked with identifying and implementing practices that can minimize and/or reduce the over representation of minority youth in the Juvenile Justice System. This 3-part training – which is comprised of an in-person meeting on May 28 and two virtual sessions on June 1 and 8 – will explain how community members can engage in action-oriented research in their communities to address issues, including:
- Discipline & Punishment in the School-to-Prison Pipeline,
- Educational Equity & Resource Allocation,and
- Equity in Data Collection, Representation, and Application
May 28:
Orientation to Participatory Action Research and Community Building (In-Person)
At this meeting, the Collaboration Council will bring together RED Committee members and community advocates to build relationships, set the foundation for Participatory Action Research (PAR), and provide materials for consultant-led PAR trainings participants will attend in early June. In addition, we'll screen the documentary from the 2023 Community Needs Assessment (CNA).

June 1 & 8:
Participatory Action Research (PAR) Training
(virtual on ZOOM)
Through case studies, interactive exercises, and facilitated discussion, attendees will leave each learning session with a tangible exploration of Participatory Action Research (PAR). Participants will learn how to use PAR as an approach for advancing equitable community engagement.
